Hotel de la Region (with RICARDO BOFILL / TALLER DE ARQUITECTURA) Montpellier, France REVITALISATION OF AREAS ALONG THE RIVER IN THE CITY CENTER
An urban regeneration project on 25 hectares linking the traditional city center of Montpellier with the river. The program included: residential units, commercial areas, restaurants, an Olympic pool, hotels and a regional government. All was organized along a 1,2 km long axis. The focal point of the new district became the regional government center or “Hotel de la Region”. The arch shaped structure contains administrative offices and assembly halls and has become a symbol of the city. Guy Perry prepared the competition entry for Taller de Arquitectura for this now built structure.
