Dnipro Waterfront Kiev, Ukraine MIXED-USE This park-like area is located on a narrow stretch of land at the foot of the Kyiv hills and is defined by a magnificent forest covered escarpment and the Dnipro River. Both the southern and the northern ends of the site are marked by bridges. The site is not only historically significant for the city but it is also one of kyivans’ favorite recreation areas. The site is within walking distance to many important buildings and facilities of the city, including the Parliament, the Mariynsky Palace, the Philharmonic Hall, embassies, Dynamo football stadium, Khreshchatyk Street and the Maidan. It is very well connected with other parts of the city by both private and public transport. There is a metro station at each end of the site. The site is also crossed by Kyiv’s most important north-south transportation artery which, however, will be re-routed into a new underground tunnel. This will make it possible to cover the area with buildings, plazas and landscape of the new waterfront district. |
