Corvin “Promenades” Budapest, Hungary

Budapest, Hungary

THE LARGEST CITY CENTER REGENERATION PROJECT IN THE CENTRAL EUROPE

A successful 15 year PPP strategy located on a 22 hectare area a few minutes away from the Danube and the city core. Corvin Promenades is a fully mixed-use 24 hour district with close to 2,800 new apartments, a 62,000 m² indoor/outdoor shopping promenade, 130,000 m² of offices, hotels and a science park. Hundreds of car parking spaces on three levels are underneath the development. Corvin Promenade provides a new heart to what once was considered the most troubled area in Budapest. Though currently only half completed it has been a stabilizing force in the entire district. A number of local architects were engaged to provide an authentic, local and human scaled texture to the new intensely developed neighborhood. The urban design encouraged the careful overlapping of a range of uses throughout the day and night.
