Centrop Valley

Bratislava, Slovakia

EUROPE’S LARGEST NEW DISTRICT

600 contiguous hectares a few minutes from the center of Bratislava on the main highway link to Prague and at the crossroads of the future ring road with Vienna. Europe’s largest and most future-relevant new district adjacent to railway trunk lines and less than 30 minutes from both the Vienna and Bratislava airports. The Valley is already home to Slovakia’s largest exporter (Volkswagen). The heart of the community will be a hub of research and education, and include Slovakia´s premier hospital facility. The new district will set new standards in energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact in the region. A tri-generational facility takes advantage of the main existing gas line, which runs through the site. Wind generators are to be integrated atop the highest structures. Existing onsite water courses shape the plan of the site. Most daily needs will be within walking distances, and a variety of housing will accommodate over 70,000 residents. Centrop Valley was a subject of planning studio organized by IN-VI an MIT in 2007. IN-VI continues to work with VW – the largest exporter of Slovakia - on the most efficient incorporating automobiles in district for future generations.
