The “Amazon Boats”

Amazonas, Brazil

PRESERVATION AND ECO-TOURISM VEHICLE FOR THE RAINFOREST

Located in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, the “Amazon Boats” has the objective of maintaining over 8 000 km2 of jungle, intact, in perpetuity through the sale of house boats, homes are built atop decommissioned logging barges, each assigned to a 160 sq km portion of the jungle, to be handed down from generation to generation with the privilege of protecting this natural treasure. The strategy has been presented at the United Nations in New York as a model of an innovative method for protecting very large tracts of the jungle. It was also presented as the closing keynote session of the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference in Dubai 2009 and was highlighted at the Green build conference in Hong Kong in July of 2009. Although the “Amazon Boats” project is primarily a preservation effort, it will serve as the optimal travel and tourism vehicle to truly appreciate the qualities of the rainforest. The main base station will be near the capitol of Amazonas, Manaus. The 8000 km2 site is located near Caruari, in perhaps the biologically most diverse place on the planet, and the earth’s most efficient oxygen producing region.
